# Create or join a workspace

> Create a new workspace for your company, or join an existing one from an invitation email.

A [workspace](https://docs.tulipfarm.ai/concepts/workspaces-members-and-teams/) is your company's space in TulipFarm. Create a new one, or join one that a workspace admin invited you to.

## Before you start

- To create a workspace, [sign in to TulipFarm](https://docs.tulipfarm.ai/getting-started/sign-in/).

## Create a workspace

If you have no workspace yet, TulipFarm opens the **Create a workspace** page after you sign in.

1. Open the **Create a workspace** page.

   If you already have a workspace, select the workspace name at the top of the sidebar. Then select **Switch workspace** and **Create workspace**.

2. Type a name in **Workspace name**.

   The name can have up to 80 characters. You can rename the workspace later.

3. Check the web address (URL) in **Workspace URL**.

   TulipFarm suggests an address from the name until you edit it.

   > **Caution:** You cannot change the workspace URL after you create the workspace. Choose it carefully.

4. Select **Create workspace**.

   A setup page shows progress until the workspace is ready.

Each new workspace starts with 1,000 free credits, worth $50. You become the first admin of the workspace.

### Workspace URL rules

The workspace URL appears as `app.tulipfarm.ai/<workspace-url>`. It must follow these rules:

- It has 3 to 48 characters.
- It uses lowercase letters, numbers, and single hyphens between words.
- It does not start or end with a hyphen.
- It is not a reserved name, such as `api` or `settings`.

## Join a workspace from an invitation

A workspace admin sends invitations by email. You do not need a TulipFarm account to join. If you are new, you create an account in step 3. An invitation link lasts seven days.

1. Open the invitation email.

2. Select the invitation link.

   If you are not signed in, the page shows **Sign in before joining**.

3. Select **Sign in**. If you are new to TulipFarm, select **Create an account** instead.

   Your invitation stays available after you sign in.

4. Wait until the page shows **Workspace joined**.

   Your membership is now ready.

5. Select **Open joined workspace**.

You join as a member. An admin adds you to teams separately.

If the page shows **Invalid invitation link**, ask a workspace admin for a new invitation link.

## Switch between workspaces

You can belong to more than one workspace.

1. Select the workspace name at the top of the sidebar.

2. Select **Switch workspace**.

3. Select the workspace that you want to open.

When you open `app.tulipfarm.ai`, TulipFarm opens the last workspace that you used in this browser.
