Connect Slack so that people in your workspace can ask [agents](https://docs.tulipfarm.ai/concepts/agents-skills-and-workflows/) for help in Slack channels. A Slack connection is shared with selected people and teams.

## What Slack can do

- Read messages in channels that TulipFarm is added to.
- Post replies and direct messages.
- Add emoji reactions.
- Run channel agents. A channel agent answers people in one Slack channel.

## Who can use the Slack connection

A Slack connection is shared with selected people and teams. Connection managers control sharing in the **Sharing** section of the Slack panel.

| Access | What it allows |
| --- | --- |
| **Use** | Lets people link their Slack account. |
| **Manage** | Lets people reconnect Slack and change sharing. |

Keep at least one manager on the connection.

## Connect Slack

1. Select **Connections** in the sidebar.

2. Select **Slack**.

3. Select **Connect**.

If you see "Ask a connection manager for Slack access.", ask a connection manager to share the connection with you.

4. Follow the Slack steps to allow access.

5. Check that Slack shows **Connected**.

## Add TulipFarm to a channel

TulipFarm reads only the channels that it belongs to.

1. Open the Slack channel in Slack.

2. Send `/invite @TulipFarm` in the channel.

3. Go back to the Slack panel in TulipFarm and select **Refresh** under **Channels**.

## Link your Slack account

Before you ask an agent in Slack, link your Slack account to your TulipFarm account. TulipFarm does not match accounts by email address.

1. Send a message to TulipFarm in Slack.

2. Open the link to the **Connect your Slack identity** page.

3. Select **Sign in with Slack**.

4. Sign in as the same Slack user who sent the message.

Your original request stays saved while you link your account. You must already be a member of the TulipFarm workspace.

> **Note:** Reconnecting your Slack account does not approve earlier actions again. Check Slack before you repeat a request whose result you do not know.

## Use an agent in a Slack channel

An agent manager attaches an agent to a Slack channel on the agent's **Slack** tab. The agent can answer every new message or only messages that tag it.

- A linked Slack user who is a current workspace member can ask the agent in its channel.
- The agent's run belongs to the person who asked.
- An agent manager can limit which Slack channels the agent uses, on the **Execution** tab.

For the full setup, see [Schedule an agent](https://docs.tulipfarm.ai/guides/schedule-an-agent/).
