Upload problems

Fix uploads that fail because a file is too large, workspace storage is full, or a task can't read the file.

This page lists the upload limits in TulipFarm and what to do when an upload fails.

Where you upload Limit
Files 10 MB per file
Chat attachments 10 MiB (mebibytes) per file, 5 files per message
Chat attachments, whole workspace 1 GiB (gibibyte) in total
Google Drive, Save a copy 10 MB per file
Profile picture or workspace icon 2 MB, PNG, JPEG, or WebP

Why this happens

The file is larger than 10 MB. The message also shows the size of your file.

What to do

  1. Make the file smaller. For example, split it into two files.
  2. Upload the smaller file again.

“Workspace storage is full. Files in Trash still use storage.”

Section titled ““Workspace storage is full. Files in Trash still use storage.””

Why this happens

The workspace used all of its file storage. Files in Trash still count toward the storage.

What to do

  1. Open Files, then Trash.
  2. Delete the files in Trash that you no longer need.
  3. Upload the file again.
  4. If storage is still full, ask a workspace admin to contact support.

Why this happens

An attachment that you upload but do not send expires after 24 hours.

What to do

  1. Attach the file again.
  2. Send the message.

Why this happens

A task can read selected files of these types, up to 16,000 bytes:

  • Plain text in UTF-8
  • CSV
  • JSON
  • Markdown

What to do

  1. Make sure that the file is one of these types.
  2. If the file is larger than 16,000 bytes, make it smaller or split it.

Why this happens

A project accepts these file types:

  • Text, code, and Markdown
  • JSON and YAML
  • HTML
  • PDF
  • DOCX

What to do

Convert the file to one of these types, then upload it again.

Why this happens

A scanned PDF that has no text is kept, but chats can’t search it.

What to do

Upload a version of the PDF that contains text.
